How to: Control footnote or endnote placement and numbering.
Solution:
Use the Footnote or end note options in the Insert menu. Click 'Custom Mark' to change reference mark appearance; 'Options' to change numbering appearance.
1) Select the 'Insert' menu and select 'Footnote...'. (The Footnote dialog box appears.)
2) Select the 'Footnote' or 'End note' radio button.
3) Do one or both of the following:
a) Change the reference mark:
1] Select the 'Custom Mark' radio button.
2] Click 'Symbol...'. (The Symbol palette appears.)
3] Select a symbol from the palette.
4] Click 'OK'.
b) To change the numbering appearance:
1] Click 'Options...'. (The Note Options dialog box appears.)
2] Do one of the following:
a] Click the 'All Footnotes' tab.
b] Click the 'All Endnotes' tab.
3] In the 'Place At' drop-down list box, select the check box note/end note location.
4] Select a numbering format from the 'Numbering Format' drop-down list box.
5] Select the number at which the check box note/end note numbering should begin.
6] Do one of the following:
a] Select the 'Continuous' radio button.
b] Select the 'Restart Each Section' radio button.
7] Click 'OK'.
4) Click 'OK'.
